Public Works

The Public Works Department delivers a wide range of services for Citizens of the City of Gallatin. Public Works is comprised of four departments, including:


The Street Department is responsible for the maintenance and construction of City streets, sidewalks, drainage infrastructure and right of ways. This includes mowing of right of ways, road repairs, construction of streets, sidewalks, and drainage infrastructure, along with maintenance of the roads during inclement weather by salting and removal of snow, ice, and other debris. It is the Street Department’s mission to provide a safe, clean, and efficient transportation and drainage network.

Environmental Services

Environmental Services provides curbside trash pickup, brush pickup, bulk item pick up, and recycling dumpsters for all City residents. Curbside trash pickup costs $12/month/can serviced. Brush pickup is complimentary, along with bulk item pick up on Fridays. Recycling dumpsters are located at three different City facilities. Please refer to the Overview of Solid Waste Disposal link for more information. It is Environmental Services mission to provide an efficient system for managing trash and other waste in the City.

Vehicle Maintenance

Vehicle Maintenance is responsible for the entire City’s transportation and work fleet, with the exception of Leisure Services fleet. Vehicle Maintenance services and repairs all vehicles, along with ensuring all emissions and registration regulations are met. Vehicle Maintenance’s mission is to provide appropriate fleet preventive maintenance to avoid down time, along with speedy and efficient repairs when needed, to keep all City departments running at their highest capacity.

Facilities Maintenance

Facilities Maintenance maintains all City buildings and properties, with the exception of Leisure Services facilities. Facilities Maintenance provides plumbing, electrical, and janitorial services, along with aiding in event set up for City meetings, events, and festivals. Facilities Maintenance is responsible for the inmate crews performing litter pick-up and mowing duties on various City infrastructures, along with many traffic signal maintenance duties. Facilities Maintenance’s mission is to provide safe, clean, and efficient City facilities.
