City Attorney

A full-time member of the City’s staff, the City Attorney’s Office prepares, reviews, and interprets ordinances, resolutions, and contracts; provides legal support to the Mayor and City Council, staff, boards and committees; and manages litigation in which the City may be involved.

Additionally, the City Attorney’s Office provides legal guidance to ensure that all City functions are conducted in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and to protect the interests of the City through the preparation of sound ordinances, contracts, and other official documents, as well as the successful prosecution and defense of lawsuits.

Periodic updating of the Gallatin Municipal Code, published by the Municipal Code Corporation, is coordinated by the City Attorney.  The Municipal Code includes the City Charter, as well as other City ordinances which are permanent.  Residents with questions about traffic and parking regulations, the keeping of animals, or the discharging of weapons within the City of Gallatin will most likely find the answer in the Municipal Code.
